Discovering a Secret Place | ALASKA of the Philippines, Punta Carles
We celebrated Easter Sunday into one of undiscovered beauty somewhere in Carles, Iloilo. Carles is a prominent hub for commercial fishing, earning the nickname "Alaska of the Philippines" in honor of the region's abundant marine life. This is due to the fact that Carles' water territory is within the triangle formed by the islands of Gigantes and the Visayan Sea. These islands, which are a part of the Coral Triangle, have some of the most biologically diverse marine resources and one of the best fishing grounds in the nation. From the provinces of Iloilo, Negros, Cebu, Samar, and Masbate, an imaginary triangle stretches outward. This triangle is a portion of the "Sulu-Sulaweisi Triangle" in the Sulu Sea and bordering Indonesia, where a substantial marine ecosystem is supported by a high concentration of marine creatures and favorable climate factors.
